Prints one sign per page. Signs print at or above the type sizes card brands ask for. Check your state on the rules map before posting a surcharge sign.
Where they go
Post them where customers see them before they pay.
Main entrance
Every program gets a door sign. For surcharging, card rules set a minimum of 32-point type and the notice must be visible as people walk in.
Every register
At each checkout, where the customer can read it before paying. Surcharge signs need at least 16-point type and must state the percent, credit only, and that it is not more than your cost.
Behind the counter
The volunteer card sits by the register: one line to say when a customer asks about two prices or the surcharge.
Return policies and disputes. Card rules let you limit returns if you show the policy where the customer pays, before the sale, or on the receipt. An as-is sign alone will not win every "not as described" dispute, so add condition notes to the receipt line and keep a photo of big-ticket items.
